Brake Control Module Firmware Update Nissan Leaf ZEO
The Nissan Leaf features an ‘electrically-driven intelligent brake control module’. This is an electrically-assisted brake master cylinder, as opposed to a vacuum-assisted brake master cylinder seen in standard internal combustion engines.
The braking ‘booster’ on the Leaf has its own integral control unit that interacts with the rest of the vehicle’s control components. It can instruct light braking requirements to be fulfilled by regenerative braking utilising the traction motor alone or an amalgamation of this and hydraulic brakes.
Nissan has published a number of firmware updates for the Nissan Leaf’s electrically-driven intelligent braking control module. Some of the changes are for better performance, while others are for safety.
